Redmond EMS Welcomes Chattooga Employees

Monday, February 21st, 2011 Redmond EMS

On February 18th, 2011, Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters announced that Redmond EMS was selected to provide EMS coverage in Chattooga County.

Winters stated, “After carefully evaluating proposals from both Floyd EMS and Redmond EMS for the implementation of an EMS service plan, the service agreement has been awarded to Redmond EMS. While both plans presented a good opportunity for Chattooga County, Redmond’s proposal best helps to meet our goal of reducing overall response times.”

Redmond EMS will be providing 4 EMS units in Chattooga that will be strategically placed throughout the county to improve response times. Redmond must have its service up and running by April 1.

Throughout the years Redmond and Chattooga County have been closely allied. Redmond has provided mutual aid requests, utilized the same Medical Director and the Chattooga service has utilized the Redmond pharmacy for its pharmaceutical needs. This should help in the transition since the Chattooga employees are already very familiar with the facility and our policies.

The employees of Redmond are excited and are looking forward to working with their new associates from Chattooga. The staff  has been instructed to begin helping the transition by providing information and support to the Chattooga employees.

District 1 Commander Sherry Peace stated,” If any service understands the aspects of a merger, it’s Redmond EMS. We understand what is involved with bringing in a new territory and a new set of employees after our merger with Polk County two years ago”.

“District 1 employees know how they must allow Chattooga to be independent, go with the flow, have patience and be understanding. Our goal at this point as Redmond EMS employees is to make sure that our new family members are welcomed and assisted by all of us in any need that may arise”, Peace said.

Peace continued,” It has taken copious amounts of team work to make what we have thus far such a success. It’s going to take even more sweat and hard work to keep that going, but it is absolutely obtainable”!

All of us at Redmond EMS would like to thank the employees of Chattooga EMS for giving us the honor of providing service in your county. We are aware that we were chosen by the employees of the service. We are aware that this has been difficult for you over the past several months and we greatly appreciate your efforts. Feel free to contact any of our employees in District 1 or 2 and we will be glad to help you in anyway necessary to make this transition smooth. Welcome aboard!
